- 1 cup butter softened
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 48 whole almonds blanched
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 tablespoon wate

Heat oven to 350°F

Beat butter and sugar until creamy

Add egg and almond flavoring, beat until well mixed

Add flour, baking powder, salt and beat on low until combined

Shape dough into 1” balls

Place on ungreased cookie sheet

Flatten slightly and press almond into center of each cookie

Mix egg yolk and water, brush cookies evenly with mixture

Bake for 11-15 minutes or until just set
